Colour inspiration
There is so much psychology that goes into different colours. There’s a wide variety of emotions that different colours can conjure up in humans. That’s why adding colours to your design can be integral for your customer’s experience.
Colour choices can make your brand but just as easily break it. The wrong colour choices can have a negative effect and that can drive traffic away. The days of only being able to choose from a handful of different colour options are long gone. Now there’s an almost unlimited selection at your disposal.
This is great but it can also make things difficult. So here are some tips to give you some colour inspiration and choose the specific hues that best fit your brand’s image.
Take Pictures Of Colour Schemes That You Love
Find inspiration wherever you can. If you’re going for a walk and you see a beautiful sunset or a field of flowers, take pictures. Find colour schemes in the real world that you love, and then you can incorporate that into your brand.
There are different photoshop tools online, such as Photocopy that will let you paste pictures and then give you plenty of different colour options that match those in the pictures. This will give you plenty of ideas and different hues that you already know you like.
So get out there and find colours that you love and appreciate and use those as inspiration.
Create A File With All Of Your Colour Inspiration
Websites like Pinterest and Instagram are great for finding inspiration online. Look up different colour schemes, and use proper keywords to locate the types of colours that you’re looking for.
Whenever you find anything that you like place it into a folder for future use. Don’t ever let any colour schemes that you like to slip away. Keep track of all of them. And then go through the folder and check out all of the ideas that you saved.
Stick To A Handful Of Colours, Don’t Overuse Them
Find a few colours that fit well together and use them. Three or four different colours is sufficient. If you start going for a whole rainbow vibe for your website, it can be distracting for users who are visiting your site.
Find a colour scheme and stick to it. With a few colours, you can make your website look great without any overkill.
Match The Colour With The Mood
Colour schemes need to match the mood of your topic. If you’re writing about fall and pumpkin spice, then the colours should match that. Some orange, and brown. Those colours match the mood of what you’re writing about.
So think about this strongly. If your site is about kids’ toys, then the colours should jump up. Some bright colours are fun and happy. If your site is about a metal band, then darker colour schemes will work better.
Just make sure that the colours and your brand flow. They need to be in sync, and this will create a nice experience for your users.
