Lyn Adamson is a headteacher who has used PMI Creative for video for her schools.
We were commissioned to produce a prospectus video for her school at Burnhope in County Durham. Due to the success of this video, Lyn invited us back to the school to film various videos including documentaries about their Harvest and Christmas Events.
Lyn has since moved to a new school, Aycliffe Village Primary School in Newton Aycliffe, where we have filmed a Christmas Event, and we are shortly due to film a prospectus video at her new school.

We spoke to Lyn about how successful these video campaigns have been.
Why did you decide to have a video prospectus of your previous school produced?
How was the experience ? Did it disrupt the day, where children involved and did teachers get involved too?
Where do you use the finished videos?

What has been the feedback from people seeing the video?
We have only had positive reviews of the videos. It has help prospectus parents moving into the area understand our school ethos especially during the COVID-19 lockdowns. Other schools have also expressed an interest too.
Were the videos successful?
Yes, there has been several new families who have viewed the videos and then requested places at our school.
Since the prospectus video at your previous school, you then commissioned some special project videos – like Harvest Festival and Christmas. How have those videos worked for you and what was your reason behind commissioning the videos?
The reason was to celebrate the good work that is going on in school. As we have been unable to open our doors in the same way due to COVID-19 it has proved a useful communication tool with parents and the wider community. We are very proud of the work we carry out in school and these videos have let us celebrate the achievements of the children and maintain some form of ‘normal’.
Would you say the video has given you a good ROI/value for money?
Yes, whilst the filming may appear expensive when working with a small school budget – the quality of the product is excellent and far better than anything that could be made in house. The amount of time is would take to produce a video is also a consideration.
You’ve since moved schools and have re-commissioned PMI Creative to create a video of your new school. Why have you chosen to do this?
Again, we are wanting to celebrate the good work that is going on in school and to share it with the community. As a small village primary school we attract families beyond the immediate village and so having a video will mean we can post on social media platforms so that families beyond Aycliffe Village can see the ethos of the school.

How do you see the video prospectus working in the future?
Whilst I would like to return to face-to-face open days, I think the ‘lockdown’ situation has changed how people gather their information. I would be surprised if the demand for videos decreased as many families will see the benefits of being able to view the school and meet staff at a time that suits them.
What would you say to other leaders in education who might be considering a video prospectus too?
A video prospectus can be a very powerful tool which can promote and reassure families about life in school.
Anything else you’d like to add that we’ve not asked you about?
Both the quality of the video and the experience of working with your company have been excellent. I would highly recommend your company to other Headteachers.
